Capcom best selling games of all time
By the time the fourth game came out though fans had started to feel fatigue. There have been some pauses in-between releases, but the last main one brought this series back to power with Devil May Cry 5 in In terms of reviews that is.
Sales for it did not necessarily soar for Capcom so it is unknown if it will go back into hiding once again. Mega Man is another Capcom hero that goes away only to return sporadically.
Street Fighter started its franchise in for arcades and has sold about 45M units. It would not hit its stride until the second game released in To say it changed the arcade scene would be an understatement. Developers from across the globe chased its fighting game magic.
Some nailed it, while others failed gloriously. The last core entry was Street Fighter V in , but Capcom has re-released it multiple times, the latest of which was in , with new characters and modes. Its expansion, Iceborne is not one to skip, either.
It extrapolates on the foundation of World , adding new and improved mechanics and an all-new, ice-covered area to explore. Monster Hunter: World is deep, so make sure you play it as a co-op game to make things easier. Switch owners have to skip this one, sadly, but at least you can still play Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate. Everything from the art style to the music, dungeons, and quirkiness makes this a standout 2D Zelda game. The main reason Minish Cap stands out — even to this day — is its shrinking mechanic, which is integrated very cleverly into its puzzles and dungeons.
In it, Link can shrink down to the size of a pea, giving him the ability to access tiny areas. Just look at it. Developed by Clover Studio, this is an incredibly stylized action game, with a focus on nature as one of its themes. Okami is made up of action sequences, platforming, puzzles, and numerous quests to complete. We highly recommend you check this one out.
But what Dead Rising was able to accomplish in for this Xbox game was nothing short of impressive, not just in the way it handled zombies, but in the way it blended comedy with a serious tone. Its gameplay was — and still is — pretty original. In it, you play as Frank West, a reporter trapped in a mall with zombies. You must gather survivors and use the mall to your advantage to make it out alive, all while the clock counts down until the helicopter comes to save you.
Figuring out which one has sold the most is a bit tricky as companies like Capcom like to keep exact details out of the public eye.
These numbers are at least close to what one can presume are the real numbers based on press statements and accumulated data. Lost Planet started its franchise in for the Xbox and has sold about 6M units. The last game was Lost Planet 3 in , which is to say it never made it off systems from two generations ago. The West would not see this franchise until when the first game was remade for the DS.
There have been some recent remasters, but the last actual new game was Dai Gyakuten Saiban 2: Naruhodo Ryunosuke no Kakugo which released for the 3DS in in Japan only. Onimusha started its franchise in for the PS2 and has sold about 8M units.
There was a browser game release in for Japan only, Onimusha Soul , but that hardly seems like it should count. Marvel vs Capcom started its franchise in for arcades and has sold about 9M units. Technically this series started with X-Men vs. Street Fighter in , also for arcades. Sales data from Capcom's official site, [1] unless otherwise noted. Sales for multiple versions of the same game are combined.
