Steam dota 2 update stuck at 99
Thnk you my dota2 is fixed. So try using mobile data by tethering it to ur PC, It worked n still works for me u can use ur normal Internet for playing game though. Hope it works n have fun :. For me, change of the Download Region helped. Also tried everything else mentioned in this topic. I guess there are different issues which have the same symptoms - just try whatever works. In case you are planning to cleanup your PC or your game is creating troubles for you, then there might be a need to reinstall Dota 2.
As it is an online game and takes up huge place in your hard drive, so its not suggested that you uninstall it and download a new copy unless you have a very good internet connection. Here I am going to explain you how you can create Dota 2 backup in few simple steps. A new window will open. In case you are planning to remove steam including all its games from your PC to make some space in your compute, then you should select all games.
But here we are only talking about Dota 2, so select Dota 2 from options. It is always suggested that you save Dota 2 backup in any drive other than C drive. In case you are installing a new windows or you are creating some space, the backup will not be deleted.
However if you are just cleaning up PC or rectifying any issue, then you can even save it in default Dota 2 backup folder too. Click on Highlighted area below and there are few option to select. Choose that option which is best suited for you. Once all the above mentioned steps are complete, your backup process will start. Wait patiently because this is going to take almost 1 hour and 30 mins easily. You can read instructions on final screen. Remember, DO NOT download steam from any un-trusted software, because it may be a phishing software, designed to steal your credentials.
Once downloading steam, make sure you are at right steam site. Not any phishing site. Click on Install steam. Total steam software is 1. So its just going to take few seconds to download. Double click the steam setup wherever you have downloaded it and this welcome window will show up.
Install steam in whatever directory you want and then follow the process till you successfully install it. Wait for this to complete and then resume your download. Now locate a file called clientregistry. Now open steam and it will reacquire a new clientregistry. The next file Winui. Now open the steamapps folder, locate winui.
Now open steam it will reacquire a new winui. Now there are 2 options here you will want to change around. The first is the Region because whenever steam downloads a game it will always download it from the closest server to the one you have selected. So we want to force it to download overseas depending where you're from. The 2nd part to this is the approximate speed, I can't confirm this but have heard changing the speed can also help although I am unsure how this would occur.
On the same tab you can see the approximate speed which you can change people have stated changing this has allowed them to get past the stuck download. Restart steam and try to download again. These files are related to Dota 2 and can cause the download to stall. You can delete these files although I recommend not to delete but remove the files and place them in a folder on your desktop.
When you remove these files also clear out the downloading folder as well in one of the previous steps above to make sure we have a fresh run at downloading Dota 2.
Now run steam and download Dota 2. Hopefully the above has fixed the stalling update issue and I want to state that all fixes are based upon previous threads and there are too many people to thank for assistance in resolving this issue.
I do not take credit for the guide as most of the fixes have been a community effort I have just typed it up nicely for those who are experiencing difficulties. Last edited by Rapacity ; , PM.
